Limitations of Socially Driven News

The Mu Life blogged A number of my friends from Digg pointed out a story to me today that epitomizes several very important limitations to socially driven news. The following story made it to the front-page of Digg.com within 2 and a half hours of being submitted, and as I am writing this piece (3 and a half hours after being on the front-page), the story is still on the front-page of Digg

The story was a fake story, claiming there was a big PlayStation3 recall, and that a spokesman from Sony claimed the XBox was technocogically more advanced than the playstation. The guy posting the fake story told how he did it here.
