Virtual Earth

cthota blogged If you are following BillG's keynote from this morning's 'D' Conference, you might have read about Virtual Earth here, here and here already. But I'm still going to write about it, after all, I'm part of the team that is building this Virtual Earth! :)

Virtual Earth is a fusion of many exciting dimentions that we experience from mutiple sources today; it provides a core set of reference points such as maps, aerial imagery, photos, consumer and business directories and ratings and reviews and allow the broader community of consumers and businesses to contribute their own location-specific information to create an always expanding, dynamic and relevant local search experience.

So, how "real" this Virtual Earth going to be? Well, with the 45 degree angle "Eagle Eye" imagery, it is real, for example check this image:

It looks like Google Maps, with it's satellite images, is going to have some competition
