Female Suicide Bombers

MEMRI TV reported Dr. Yunis Al-Astal (Palestinian MP from Hamas) said When Jihad becomes an individual duty, it applies to women too, because women do not differ from men, when it comes to individual duties.
Women as well as men are just cannon fodder. They don't care if they die. Now clerics, that is a different matter. They tell others to become suicide bombers, but they don't strap on a vest themselves. Because they know they are lying to the people.
... I would like to tell you a wonderful story which took place in later times. There was a woman called Umm Ibrahim Al-Hashimiya, and Ibrahim was her only child. She prepared 10,000 dinars, in order to hold him a wedding the likes of which had never been seen. All the girls of the neighborhood were hoping to become his wife. One day, she attended a sermon about Jihad, the virtues of the mujahideen, and about the black-eyed virgins or Paradise. She immediately decided that her son would marry the black-eyed virgins. She went to the preacher and paid him the 10,000 dinars, on the condition that her son would marry the black-eyed virgins, about whom she heard things that encouraged her to act the way she did. Indeed, her son wage Jihad for the sake of Allah, and she awaited news of his martyrdom with bated breath. When the army returned, she hastened to ask: "Should I be congratulated because my gift was accepted, or should I be offered condolences because it was returned?" The army commander said to her: "The gift was accepted, and the bride has been brought to the groom." She praised Allah for accepting her sacrifice – her only son, who was about to be married. She believed that his wedding was his martyrdom for the sake of Allah....
So the stupid mother no longer has a son, or her 10,000 dinars, and her son is looking around hell trying to find his 72 virgins.
Interviewer: Dr. Al-Astal, we have seen that some of the female martyrdom-seekers set out on their martyrdom operation without a veil? To what extent does our religion allow women, when they embark upon Jihad for the sake of Allah, to use means of camouflage, such as removing the veil?

Yunis Al-Astal: When Jihad becomes an individual duty, the husband's permission or consent is not required, because jihad becomes like prayer.
Only a lot louder, and there are more pieces of flesh flying through the air.
Just like a woman does not have to ask for permission to pray, to fast during the Ramadhan, or to give charity, she does not need to ask for permission when Jihad becomes an individual duty.
She may have to ask permission to leave the house, if she is planning on coming back, but if she is going to kill herself trying to kill others, that is ok.
In my opinion, in places invaded by the enemy, Jihad becomes an individual duty. With regard to your question about the veil, especially when it comes to martyrdom-seekers who had to go into the Zionist cities deep in Palestine – Jihad is a duty, and so is wearing a veil, but the duty of Jihad is ten times great than the duty to wear a veil.
So they can blow themselves up without wearing a veil. Is it ok if they get stinking drunk first, so they have the courage to push the button?
... The message of the female martyrdom-seekers to the enemies is that they should go back to where they came from, or else our Jihad will continue until this land regains its holiness – from the [Mediterranean] Sea to the [Jordan] River.
Many of the Jews lived in that area before the state of Israel was created, and many of the people in Gaza and the West Bank came from other Arab countries. How do those points jive with what you just said?

Militants Said to Flee Before U.S. Offensive

NYT reported The operational commander of troops battling to drive fighters with Al Qaeda from Baquba said Friday that 80 percent of the top Qaeda leaders in the city fled before the American-led offensive began earlier this week. He compared their flight with the escape of Qaeda leaders from Falluja ahead of an American offensive that recaptured that city in 2004. In an otherwise upbeat assessment, Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, the second-ranking American commander in Iraq, told reporters that leaders of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia had been alerted to the Baquba offensive by widespread public discussion of the American plan to clear the city before the attack began. He portrayed the Qaeda leaders’ escape as cowardice, saying that “when the fight comes, they leave,” abandoning “midlevel” Qaeda leaders and fighters to face the might of American troops — just, he said, as they did in Falluja.
They should really hype the cowardice of the leaders, then announce we don't even need to go in in-force, and without announcing what we are doing position the forcews where we can quickly surroung the area and close it off, and when the leaders sneak back in, then proceed as originally planned.

Muslim peer compares Rushdie to 9/ll bombers

Telegraph A Muslim peer compared Salman Rushdie to the September 11 hijackers today as the row over the author's knighthood escalated. At Regents Park Mosque in London, protestors held up placards saying "May God curse the Queen" and one speaker told followers Tony Blair should be sent back from the Middle East "in a bag". And in Iran, a senior cleric told worshippers at Friday prayers that the fatwa against Mr Rushdie was still valid.
Never cancel death fatwas until they are carried out.
Interviewed in Le Figaro newspaper in France, the Labour peer Lord Ahmed of Rotherham added fuel to the row when he hit out at Mr Rushdie. "This honour is given in recognition of services rendered to Great Britain," he said. "Salman Rushdie lives in New York. He is controversial man who has insulted Muslim people, Christians and the British.
Anythingg seems to insult Muslims. They must be very unsure of their faith. A lot of people attempt to demean Christians with much worse things, but we know that our God is above it all, and so is His Son. Abd I don't see how he insulted the British.
He does not deserve the honour. "Two weeks ago Tony Blair spoke about constructing bridges with Muslims. What hypocrisy. "What would one say if the Saudi or Afghan governments honoured the martyrs of the September 11 attacks on the United States?"
About the same thing we said when people danced in the street cheering after 9/11. But we did not kill anyone over the dancing.
His words follow that of the Pakistani religious affairs minister Ijaz ul-Haq who said the move to honour Mr Rushdie justified suicide bombings.
Will the Pakistani religious affairs minister Ijaz ul-Haq demonstrate by blowing himself up? I didn't think so.

Voucher Students Show Few Gains in First Year

WaPo reported Students in the D.C. school voucher program, the first federal initiative to spend taxpayer dollars on private school tuition, generally performed no better on reading and math tests after one year in the program than their peers in public schools, the U.S. Education Department said yesterday.
They said it indicated a significant positive impact on parental perceptions of school satisfaction and safety. Students who were offered a scholarship were also more likely to attend a school with a music program and a computer lab than students not offered a scholarship.. They said The report findings are consistent with other studies conducted on school choice programs across the nation, which typically find more than one year is needed to raise student achievement..
The department's report, which researchers said is an early snapshot, found only a few exceptions to the conclusion that the program has not yet had a significant impact on achievement:
Maybe it takes a little while to undo all of the bad training they got in public school and teach them the basics.
Students who moved from higher-performing public schools to private schools and those who scored well on tests before entering the program performed better in math than their peers who stayed in public school.
That is not what the headline says.

Stem-cell research bill

Cleveland.com reported President Bush vetoed a bill that would have made it possible to expand federally funded embryonic stem-cell research.
There is nothing preventing embryonic stem cell research; this bill would have just spent federal money on it, which pro-life people object to since their tax dollars would be spent destroying potential human life. And federal money can currently be spent on many other types of stem-cell research, the forms that have already produced cures (unlike embryonic stem-cells)
The veto was a knock to the Democratic-led Congress. Democrats, who had made the stem cell legislation a top priority when they took control of the House and Senate in January, were quick to denounce the president's decision. "This is just one example of how the president puts ideology before science, politics before the needs of our families,
As if the Dems are not doing exactly the same thing.
just one more example of how out of touch with reality he and his party have become,"
Bush authorized research on some embryonic stem-cell lines, that akready existed, reversing a complete ban under Clinton.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, told the Take Back America conference of liberal activists. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, another Democratic presidential hopeful, said Bush was "deferring the hopes of millions of Americans who do not have the time to keep waiting for the cure that may save or extend lives."
They should be urgin research into things that have shown they can create cures, rather than something that just "might" do it, but which equally might cause major cancer.
Democrats said they would hold votes to try to override the veto - or at least give the issue more air time.
Rather than trying to work on compromises on other things that could produce results, they will just waste time on something they know will not work, but which will get them on TV bashing the Republicans.

Sir Osama bin Laden?

IOL reported A hard-line Pakistani parliamentarian and head of a religious political party on Wednesday demanded a "sir" title for Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al-Qaeda terrorist network, in retaliation for Britain knighting author Salman Rushdie.
Can I hold the sword as it taps him on the shoulder? I might slip just a bit, and strike him on the neck.
"Muslims should confer the 'sir' title and all other awards on bin Laden and Mullah Omar in reply to Britain's shameful decision to knight Rushdie," Sami ul Haq, leader of the pro-Taliban Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, said in a statement, referring also to the leader of the Taliban.

Hamas butchery

Haaretz reported Fatan al-Hinawi, 9, was hospitalized in the children's ward of Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv after being wounded in Gaza. A bullet punctured her side, hit her spine, bowels, a kidney and came out the other side, hitting her arm.
Those brave Hamas members were willing to shoot an unarmed 9 year old Muslim girl. Can you tell me where in the Koran that is justified?
Al-Hinawi is one of five Palestinians, three of them children, who were caught in Hamas-Fatah cross fire and taken to Ichilov.
Ichilov General Hospital is in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Some are in serious condition.... "I wanted to shoot myself for voting Hamas," another patient said. He came with his brother, who had been shot in the head while evacuating wounded people in his taxi. "We really believed Hamas would change things," he said.
They did. Just not for the good.
"Hamas has money and weapons for the next 20 years. All the youngsters want to join it, it offers good wages, not what we get from the Palestinian Authority," he said.
You might find it is better than to go into business for yourself rather than expect money from either terrorist organizatioin.
"Hamas is no different from Bush.
How many people did Bush shoot? How many did he throw off buildings?
Israel is also to blame.
They just saved your worthless ass when your own people were shooting you.
Israel starved us, wouldn't let Abu Mazen [Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas] display any achievements or force, while Hamas kept getting stronger."
Israel gave Abbas the tax money until you were stupid enough to elect Hamas. The fact that he did not give any of it to you, is not Israel's fault.
Israel could have stopped Hamas' attacks on Fatah's offices, but it didn't, he added.
How? Are you saying you wanted them to reoccupy Gaza? How else were they to stop the Hamas attacks?
Later yesterday, Zecharia Alrai, 39, an officer in Fatah's elite Force 17 commando unit, arrived. He had been abducted by four Hamas gunmen a week ago. They loaded him into a jeep and drove him to an isolated spot, where they shot three bullets into his leg and dumped him.
A nice way to treat a fellow Muslim.
"That's not Islam. That's evil and hypocrisy. How ironic that Israel is rescuing us from our Muslim 'brothers,'" he said.
Did you say thank you?
Jay blogged How ironic is it that Israel is saving Muslims from Muslims, while Egypt and Jordan remain silent? How ironic that the main target of Palestinian terror is the one doing the most to help? Where are the British doctors who were so quick to condemn their Israeli counterparts? As usual, it won’t be long before the condemnations start coming. As usual, you know who will be blamed. It won’t be Hamas.

Shaking hands

Adnkronos International reported An Iranian religious tribunal will try former president Mohammad Khatami, a moderate Muslim cleric, and possibly ban him from preaching over a handhsake with two women during a recent trip to Italy.
Even a polite handshake is foreign to these nutcases.
The court, which is charged to rule on crimes committed by clerics, will examine the lawsuit presented by a group of talabeh, theology students, from Mashhad, Iran's holiest city. Another lawsuit has also been filed by paramilitary militia Hezbollah, present in all major Iranian cities.
Maybe Hezbollah will just shoot him, and avoid the necessity of a trial.
In a statement distributed to the press Wednesday, the clerics ask for Khatami's conviction for shaking "impure hands, contradicting the sacred principles of Islam" and compare the former president, who ruled from 1997 until 2005, to a "political prostitute."
How do they know the hands were "impure"?
On 12 June, the Baran foundation of Khatami issued a statement denying the cleric had intentionally shaken hands with women - as shown in footage of his trip to Italy broadcast on 'YouTube' - a gesture prohibited under Iran's strict interpretation of Islamic law banning all physical contact between men and women who are not related. The statement indicated either the footage had been edited to give a false impression or else Khatami had shaken the hands of people in a crowd without realising they were female.
Can't he tell the difference just by looking?
Gateway Pundit blogged Sex, Lies, & Videotape... He may deny it, but in his lustful heart he loved it! Evidently, he loved it so much he had to indulge himself a second time just moments later! Now, the so-called "moderate" who just lashed out against the enemies of Islam earlier today, is denying the charges even though it was caught on tape!!

Global Cooling

Financial Post reported The mud at the bottom of B.C. fjords reveals that solar output drives climate change - and that we should prepare now for dangerous global cooling.
Warming / cooling - what does it matter?
... The fact that science is many years away from properly understanding global climate doesn't seem to bother our leaders at all. Inviting testimony only from those who don't question political orthodoxy on the issue, parliamentarians are charging ahead with the impossible and expensive goal of "stopping global climate change."

Wishes

Jay Tea wrote on Wizbang Be careful what you wish for...because you just might get it. Witness this fellow. He, like many Palestinians in Gaza, has long had a series of wishes. First, they wanted the Israelis out of Gaza. He got that wish.

He may wish them to come back now, to suppress Hamas from killing fellow Palestinians
Then, when elections were held, they wanted Hamas to represent them. They got that wish.
Hamas never thought they would win. They just wanted enough leverage to force Fatah to share some of the graft with them so they could buy more bombs and rockets.
Then, they wanted an end to the Fatah corruption in their midst. They got that wish.
Fatah and suspected Fatah sympathizers have been shot, thrown off buildings, etc.
So, where are they now?
Up the creek without a paddle.
Governed by an Islamist terrorist group. Blocked off on all borders -- Egypt sealing their borders, Hamas sealing the crossings into Israel. And never knowing when Hamas might decide that your yard is the perfect launching point for more rockets aimed at Israel, turning your home into a military target.

Congratulations, people of Gaza. You've willingly signed up to be Hamas' hostages. Hamas can now demand that the rest of the world care for you, supply you with food and water and electricity and all the necessities of life, while they -- your duly elected government, the ones that claim to have driven Israel out of Gaza while insisting that Israel continue to supply basic utilities -- focus all their attention, all their resources, on war.

You got just what you have wanted, what you have asked for, what you have fought for, what you demanded, what you voted for. Hope you enjoy it.

Abbas discoveress Hamas are murderous terrorists

Haaretz reported Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday harshly criticized the Islamic Hamas movement for seizing control in the Gaza Strip last week, and branding its members as "murderous terrorists" who carried out a "coup."
This is unlike Abbas's murderous terrorists in Fatah.
Speaking Wednesday in a televised address to the Palestinian people, Abbas accused Hamas of attacking national symbols during its takeover of Gaza.... "There is no dialogue with those murderous terrorists," Abbas said.
Something Israel discoveren applies to both Hamas and Fatah.
... Abbas accused Hamas of trying to assassinate him when he planned a visit to Gaza a month ago, digging a tunnel under a road where his car was to pass and trying to fill it with 250 kilograms of explosives. He said he received videotapes of the operation, showing militants with Hamas signs on their shirts carrying out the work. He dismissed Hamas claims that the explosives tunnel was aimed at Israelis.
Who seldom drive on that road.
"I have sent these tapes to all the Arab countries, to show how much this dark movement is acting," he said.
What was their response?

China overtakes US as world's biggest CO2 emitter

Guardian reported China has overtaken the United States as the world's biggest producer of carbon dioxide, the chief greenhouse gas, figures released today show.
Obviously Kyoto is now dead.
The surprising announcement will increase anxiety about China's growing role in driving man-made global warming and will pile pressure onto world politicians to agree a new global agreement on climate change that includes the booming Chinese economy. China's emissions had not been expected to overtake those from the US, formerly the world's biggest polluter, for several years, although some reports predicted it could happen as early as next year.

Scared Gazans clamoring to enter Israel

Yahoo! News reported Trapped by Israeli tanks and Hamas gunmen, hundreds of terrified Palestinians holed up in a stench-filled concrete tunnel at a border crossing Tuesday, desperate to flee the Islamic militants now ruling the Gaza Strip.
When your own people are trying to kill you, apparently you are willing to go be with people you call dogs and pigs.
... In one instance, a crowd attacked a food cart, "and only the strong got the food," the man said.
Ahhh, Civilization (Muslim style).
Later, Israel sent in five cartons of food, he said. "There was order because they made everybody sit down," he said.
Smart Jews.
... Abu Mustafa, a Fatah fighter seeking to leave through Erez, feared he is a marked man. "They forgave people before and later killed them. There's no way we'll go back," he said.
They wanted to be sure they were disarmed first.
A Fatah leader in the West Bank, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the delicacy of the matter, said Abbas, the Palestinian president, did not want Gazans streaming out of the coastal strip and leaving it an undiluted Hamas stronghold.
It would be better if it was an undiluted Hamas stronghold. Then Israel could just carpet bomb the whole place. Bring on the MOABs
... The International Red Cross said medicine and medical supplies were urgently needed in Gaza, where it said hundreds were hospitalized with injuries from last week's fighting.

'Noisy' life support machine

Ananova reported A teenager in intensive care unplugged his neighbour's life support machine because the noise was keeping him awake.
This is taking the "Me Generation" a bit too far.
Frederik Moelner, 17, said he had been trying to sleep as he recovered from a car crash but the noise of the life support machine as it helped 76-year-old Hermann Berghof breathe kept waking him up. A police spokesman from Landshut in southern Germany said: "He told us the noise was getting on his nerves and he thought this was the best way to make sure he got peace and quiet.
I wonder how noisy prison is.
"Luckily the medical staff acted promptly and reconnected the life support machine. If there had been any delay the old man could have died."
That is good.
Moelner is now being questioned by police.

Carter says it is "criminal" not to support Fatah

Jerusalem Post reported The United States, Israel and the European Union must end their policy of favoring Fatah over Hamas, or they will doom the Palestinian people to deepening conflict between the rival movements, former US President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday.
We should not support either group. Trying to select good terrorists to support over bad terrorists is not a good plan.
Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate who was addressing a conference of Irish human rights officials,
They should know what terrorism is all about, after all of the bombs the IRA set off.
said the Bush administration's refusal to accept the 2006 election victory of Hamas was "criminal."
We need to get a new jacket for Carter. One with very very long arms that can be tied in the back.
Carter said Hamas, besides winning a fair and democratic mandate that should have entitled it to lead the Palestinian government, had proven itself to be far more organized in its political and military showdowns with the Fatah movement of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
It is more organized with military showdowns, but they don't have a clue about governing. In fact they never thought they would win, they just wanted to get enough seats to pressure Fatah to give them some of the money Fatah was stealing.
Hamas fighters routed Fatah in their violent takeover of the Gaza Strip last week. The split prompted Abbas to dissolve the power-sharing government with his rivals in Hamas and set up a Fatah-led administration to govern the West Bank.
So now we have a two state solution. Fatah in the West bank, Hamas in Gaza. Let is see which group of people starve first.
Carter said the American-Israeli-European consensus to reopen direct aid to the new government in the West Bank, but to deny the same to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, represented an "effort to divide Palestinians into two peoples."
Actually what divided them was Hamas killing all of the Fatah people they could find.

Palestinians Flee to Israel

LGF blogged According to the international left and the paleo-right, Israel is a fascist apartheid state, a brutal occupier, universally despised by the oppressed Palestinian people. So where do the oppressed Palestinians look for sanctuary, when the terrorist government they elected begins the inevitable slaughter?

They run to civilization. They run to the one country in the Middle East where Arabs have the most human rights.

Palestinians run as they try to cross to the Israel side at the Erez Crossing, in the northern Gaza Strip, Saturday, June 16, 2007. Dozens of Palestinians converged on the Erez crossing with Israel on Saturday, trying to leave the Gaza Strip following Hamas’ takeover. At the same time, hundreds of people looted police positions on the Palestinian side of Erez,
Including stealing Arafat's Nobel Peace Prize.
and at one point Israeli troops fired in the air to keep the crowd at bay.
They were not sure whether the crowd were people fleeing Hamas, or whether they might be Hamas.
The looters walked off with furniture and scrap metal. (AP Photo/Hatem Moussa)

BBC admits it is biased

Telegraph reported The BBC has failed to promote proper debate on major political issues because of the inherent liberal culture of its staff, a report commissioned by the corporation has concluded.
Is there a 12 step program for Journalists like there is for Alcoholics? The first step is "admitting that one has a serious, uncontrollable problem."
The report claims that coverage of single-issue political causes, such as climate change and poverty, can be biased - and is particularly critical of Live 8 coverage, which it says amounted to endorsement.
Iy is true for climate change as well. They are endorsing an unproved theory designed to hurt the economies of all Western Powers, just so they can hurt the American Economy (that is why they are so upset we are too smart to go along with things like Kyoto.)
It warns that celebrities must not be pandered to and allowed to hijack the BBC schedule.
Celebrities should just be acknowledged for their acting, singing, or whatever it is that makes them celebrities, and not pretend they know any more that anyone else about other matters.
... The report concludes BBC staff must be more willing to challenge their own beliefs. It reads: “There is a tendency to 'group think’ with too many staff inhabiting a shared space and comfort zone.”
Get a few conservatives on the team.
A staff impartiality seminar held last year is also documented in the report, at which executives admitted they would broadcast images of the Bible being thrown away but not the Koran, in case Muslims were offended.
On that maybe they just did not want their heads chopped off.
During the seminar a senior BBC reporter criticised the corporation for being anti-American.

Islam's Rise in Europe

Family Security Matters reported An impressive gathering of the world’s leading experts on the threat of Islamic fundamentalism was held at Pepperdine University on June 10, where FSM Contributing Editor Dick McDonald was one of the moderators. Here, McDonald reveals what was discussed at this forward-thinking conference.... The conference clearly defined the tragedy that is multiculturalism and how Islam is using the weak European bureaucracy and left leaning institutions like the media and the political class to slowly but methodically introduce the cult of Islam and the Shari’a law into their societies. That such assimilation has been preordained by a 1970 pact with the Arabs to exchange oil at a favorable price for letting Muslims immigrate in great numbers into Europe, and for Europe to take the Muslim side in international dealings with the Arabs against Israel.

I was not aware of that treaty, but it certainly explains some stupid actions on the part of the EU.
... Islam is one promoted by the left as a “religion of peace,” but in reality is headed by a God that believes in killing non-believers. That makes Islam not a true religion but an ideology which demands the death sentence for you, should you depart from it or its rigid demands. Islam meets the standard FBI definition of a “cult,”
The artivle links to a document which has apparently been moved to here
in which the allegiance of its devotées is not to America but to their ideological group, Islam. It is hardly a “religion of peace” – it is more appropriately designated as a “cult of death,” in which suicide bombers are elevated to “sainted status.”
What remains to be seen is God's evaluation of that status on Judgement Day, and how deep in hell He puts them.
We all need to pay attention and assist those like Avi that are leading the charge to counter the plague that is upon us.
