Lebanese Army Ordered to 'Stand With' Hizballah

The Jawa Report blogged Even the UK's rabidly leftwing Guardian Unlimited seems to find this alarming:

An internal Lebanese army statement, circulated among forces in the past week, has called for troops to stand "alongside your resistance and your people who astonished the world with its steadfastness and destroyed the prestige of the so-called invincible army after it was defeated".
And the next time Iran wants a distraction, and tells Hezbollah to attack Israel again, I guess they are going to be willing for Israel to completely destroy the country.

A Vote For Vulnerability

Hugh Hewitt Not a single Democrat of any stature or visibility has stepped forward to criticize much less reject the opinion from Judge Anna Diggs Taylor declaring NSA surveillance of our enemies contacting their operatives inside our country to be unconstitutional. Their collective silence has grown more and more revealing as the chorus of legal commentary mocking the absurd opinion has grown throughout the day.

Many legal experts who liked the resulting decision still said her argument did not hold water.
The Democrats cannot be seen to say anything against the opinion because of Kosputin and his minions. The party of Lamont is unhinged, and Judge Taylor's opinion is now a new icon of the movement.
It shows how sick the Democratic party is that they are so afraid of a blogger.
It is clear that the Democrats are invested in her conclusion and her reasoning, a position on national security that will bind the party if it reaches a majority in either the House or the Senate, and paralyze at least some of the intelligence collection activities already underway. We have to assume that their zeal for ignorance will extend to every presidential directive not explicitly backed by Congressional mandate, and thus an understanding of the Article II war powers more circumscribed than ever in our history.

Expect a major retreat in the war on Islamic fascism across many fronts if the Dems frenzy their way to a majority in either body,
And as a result the Islamists will become even more fanatic; since all they respect is force, and the reason they decided to attack on 9/11 is that Osama was convinced by the lack of spine shown by Clinton and to some extent Reagan and Bush 41, that America did not have any backbone.
and hearings upon hearings. the Church Committee will look like child's play compared to a John Conyers or patrick Leahy-led assault on the conduct of the war, a conduct that has prevented attacks on the homeland from abroad since 9/11.

Thus it is simply true: Any vote for any Democrat is a vote against victory and a vote for vulnerability.

Spencer challenges CAIR to a debate

Jihad Watch

Just a reminder that CSpan Q&A will feature my interview with CSpan's Brian Lamb tomorrow night at 8PM and 11PM EDT.

This is the famous pre-refuted interview: Akbar Ahmed already replied last week. More about that here. Meanwhile, I'm told that this morning on CSpan's Washington Journal, CAIR's Nihad Awad told people that I say many false things about Islam, and that viewers should go to CAIR's website for the truth after watching the interview.
It is easy to debate someone if you have control of the medium. That is why their reseponse will be on their own website.
CSpan seems quite eager to give a forum to such assertions; will they give a forum to my rebuttal, or to an honest debate? I challenge Nihad Awad or anyone else to produce even one false statement I have ever made about Islam. He hasn't, and won't, because he can't. But my standing offer remains: I will debate Nihad Awad, or Akbar Ahmed, or any other Muslim spokesman, on CSpan or off. Lots of people are ready to say in broad terms that I am inaccurate, but they never seem able to supply any specifics, or willing to discuss matters with me head on. Mr. Awad, Dr. Ahmed, I can be reached by email here.

Two charged with honour killing

Guardian Unlimited reported Italian police were searching yesterday for a man suspected of involvement in the killing of a Pakistani woman after her father and uncle were charged with slitting her throat because she dated an Italian man and refused to conform to an Islamic lifestyle.

These nutcases will probably ask the matter be handled under Sharia law, which would give the father and uncle the right to do it.
Investigators believe the third suspect helped the father and uncle kill Hina Saleem, 21. The woman's body was found buried in the family's garden in Sarezzo on Saturday. Her father and uncle were taken into custody on Monday. Investigators said they were looking into the theory that the grave was dug before the woman was killed.
No need to wait until the last minute; it was clearly a premeditated killing
It is thought a long kitchen knife was used to slit her throat. The Milan daily Corriere della Sera reported that the victim's father had applied for Italian citizenship two months ago. Applicants must convince authorities that they also embrace "fundamental" rights, including the right of a woman "to choose her own life", said the interior minister, Giuliano Amato.
Maybe he had his fingers crossed when he pledged that he embraced those "fundamental" rights.
News reports said the victim's family had been insisting on an arranged marriage with a cousin in Pakistan.
Ah Islam, the "relogion of peace" that respects women, as long as they obey the men in their family.

France defends sending 200 troops

CNN reported French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie on Friday defended France's decision to send just 200 additional troops to reinforce the U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon and reiterated that the force needs a clear mandate to operate effectively. "I can't let it be said or implied that France is not doing its duty in the Lebanese crisis," the minister told French radio RTL in an interview. "Since the start of the crisis, France is on the frontline and it is the top contributor."

They got their number on the table first, so they are the top contributor
France announced on Thursday it was doubling its contingent to 400 troops. It currently leads the UNIFIL force in southern Lebanon, and its decision-making on its role in a strengthened force has been closely watched. The announcement from Paris was a disappointment to some at the U.N. who expected more, though it did not dissuade countries from pledging a total of 3,500 troops for the expanded force in a meeting in New York on Thursday.
Is France still the "top" contributor.
Alliot-Marie pointed out that France was willing to continue leading the force as it expands from the current 2,000 troops to as many as 15,000.
They would be happy to have their 200 or 400 troops lead the 15,000, they are just cowards, and don't want to risk any more French lives. Syria threatened them with another bombing like Hezbollah did to the US troops in 1983. France is famous for collapsing under fire; how are they going to lead 15,000 troops? Do they have enough white flags to surrender that many of other countries troops?

Arab Nationalism Run Rampant at Middlebury

Franck Salameh wrote at RealClearPolitics At Middlebury College's Arabic Summer School

Middlebury College, founded in 1800, is an independent, residential, liberal arts college in Middlebury, Vermont
, where I recently taught Arabic, students were exposed to more than intensive language instruction. Inside the classroom and across campus, administrators and language teachers adhered to a restrictive Arab-nationalist view of what is generically referred to as the "Arab world."
It is good to learn to speak Arabic, but students should not be brainwashed to accept their cultural values at the same time.
In practice, this meant that the Middle East was presented as a mono-cultural, exclusively Arab region. The time-honored presence and deep-rooted histories of tens of millions of Kurds, Assyrians, Copts, Jews, Maronites, and Armenians--all of whom are indigenous Middle Easterners who object to an imputed "supra-Arab" identity--were dismissed in favor of a reductionist, ahistorical Arabist narrative.
Because Kurds, Assyrians, Copts, Jews, Maronites, and Armenians are not likely to riot, burn down embassies, or blow themselves up to kill others.
Those who didn't share this closed view of the Middle East were made to feel like dhimmi--the non-Muslim citizens of some Muslim-ruled lands whose rights are restricted because of their religious beliefs.

In maps, textbooks, lectures, and other teaching materials used in the instruction of Arabic, Israel didn't exist, and the overarching watan 'Arabi (Arab fatherland) was substituted for the otherwise diverse and multi-faceted "Middle East." Curious and misleading geographical appellations, such as the "Arabian Gulf" in lieu of the time-honored "Persian Gulf," abounded. Syria's borders with its neighbors were marked "provisional," and Lebanon was referred to as a qutr (or "province") of an imagined Arab supra-state.

Why We MUST Profile

Robert Spencer wrote in FrontPage magazine To profile or not to profile? Some recent suspicious incidents involving mass purchase of cell phones by Middle Eastern men have given this debate a new urgency. On Tuesday, terrorism charges were dropped against two Muslims from Dearborn, Michigan, who had been arrested in Ohio. Ali Houssaiky and Osama Sabhi Abulhassan had been stopped for a traffic violation a week before; in their car, sheriff’s deputies found $11,000 in cash, airline passenger lists, material about airport security procedures, and twelve cell phones. It turned out that they had bought 600 cell phones recently.

Cell phones can be used as detonators. They’re also a ready means of non-traceable communication, as well as an easy source of ready cash, as they can be resold to people who don’t want their calls traceable.

We need to figure out some way of tracing these untraceable calls. Since the phones are purchased by cash, you may not be able to track them back to the purchaser, but NSA should begin (if they are not already) monitoring all calls from or to these untraceable phones.
There have been several other strange incidents involving mass purchase of such phones recently: three Palestinians were recently arrested in Texas with 1,000 cell phones in their van, and there was another incident involving “Middle Eastern men” buying cell phones in large quantities in Tucson, Arizona. These incidents, especially all coming around the same time, are extremely suspicious, but even before prosecutors dropped the terror charges against Houssaiky and Abulhassan,
They should not have done that. Maybe we need a law against having 10 or more of these phones without a license to sell them.
charges of racial profiling began surfacing in the mainstream media. A public defender handling Abulhassan’s case, Ray Smith, said of his client at a hearing: “If his name was Joe Smith, we wouldn’t be here. His origin and appearance and name condition us to (think), ‘Oh my gosh, he’s a terrorist.’” The dropping of the charges will only reinforce this impression, despite the fact that many questions remain about the case and Washington County, Ohio Prosecutor James Schneider said that he still might press terrorism-related charges against the pair. According to AP, “Relatives of the men said they were just trying to make money by reselling the phones and were targeted because of their Arab backgrounds.”
And why would there be such a profit in reselling these phones, when the purchaser could just go into Walmart himself and buy them with cash.
It is unclear, however, what those who are charging that racial profiling was a factor in the arrest of Houssaiky and Abulhassan would have preferred to have happened. The facts of the case remain that they had lists of airline passengers, information on airport security, a large amount of cash, and instruments capable of being used as detonators. I hope that in such circumstances – given the fact that jihad terrorists have abundantly established their taste for targeting airplanes -- investigators would have looked into the possibility of terrorism even if Houssaiky and Abulhassan had been two Norwegian grandmothers. But the fact that they are two young Muslim men makes this not an option, but a necessity. For however unpleasant or politically inconvenient a fact it may be, young Muslim males are responsible for the overwhelming majority of terrorist violence around the world today.
Certainly not all young Muslim males are terrorists, but almost all terrorists are young Muslim males.
Since 9/11 Islamic jihadists have perpetrated well over five thousand terror attacks; no other group even comes close. Sane and courageous law enforcement officials will therefore subject young Muslim males to greater scrutiny, within the bounds of the law – and political correctness can take the hindmost.
I second that motion.
Profiling, of course, is an imperfect tool, however useful it may be. Islam is not a race, and neither is the jihad. Adherents of the jihad ideology can be found among all races: as John Walker Lindh, Jose Padilla, Richard Reid, Ismail Royer, and Hasan Akbar can attest. All those men have in common is that they are converts to Islam – a phenomenon that doesn’t necessarily have any outward signs. In fact, a recently discovered Al-Qaeda manual directs jihadists to adopt a Western secular appearance, and to eschew any outward manifestation of Islamic faith, precisely in order to divert suspicion: “Have a general appearance that does not indicate Islamic orientation (beard, toothpick, book, [long] shirt, small Koran)....Be careful not to mention the brothers’ common expressions or show their behaviors (special praying appearance, ‘may Allah reward you’, ‘peace be on you’ while arriving and departing, etc.)...Avoid visiting famous Islamic places (mosques, libraries, Islamic fairs, etc.).” Likewise, the recent terror arrests in Britain, which included a pregnant woman, demonstrate that not all jihad terrorists are men, either.

Nonetheless, the fact remains that young Middle Eastern males have committed a disproportionate amount of violent terror attacks in recent years. Although Islamic jihad supremacism is an ideology, not a race, more Middle Eastern males hold to it than do members of other groups. Accordingly, it is simply a waste of resources to subject all airline passengers, from grandmothers to toddlers, to equal scrutiny, while refusing to spend more time investigating passengers who come from the group from which most terrorists spring nowadays.

This is not a question of civil liberties. No one is arguing for the rounding-up of people who are just going about their business. If, however, the police see anything suspicious, as they did in the car of Houssaiky and Abulhassan, they have a right and a duty to check it out, and should be able to do so freely, without worrying about hurting feelings or incurring internal affairs investigations for politically incorrect practices. And it is still true that in a free society, people who are not breaking the law will have nothing to worry about.

After the uncovering of the recent jihadist airplane plot in Britain, British officials have begun moving toward this. However, politically this is an explosive issue: a British source said that the British Department for Transport “is ultra-sensitive about this and won’t say anything publicly because of political concerns about being accused of racial stereotyping.”
As you pointed out earlier, Islam is not a race.
And predictably, once a report was printed about this in the Times of London, Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Ali Desai declared: “What you are suggesting is that we should have a new offence in this country called ‘traveling whilst Asian.’ What we don’t want to do is actually alienate the very communities who are going to help us catch terrorists.” And of course, we don’t want to do that. But those communities themselves have to take responsibility for the fact that jihadists have lived and recruited and plotted in their midst, generally with no fear that their coreligionists would turn them in. While Muslim tipsters helped expose the latest airplane hijacking plot, and that is highly commendable, all too often the wrath of the Muslim communities in America and Britain has been focused on anti-terror efforts and the foreign policy of their governments – when what is needed instead is an understanding of and tolerance for the need for profiling. But Muhammad Abdul Bari of the Muslim Council of Britain doesn’t think profiling is worth doing anyway: “If the profiling is done on the basis of race and religion, it will be wrong, it is not going to work.”

Why not? All the September 11 hijackers were Muslims. So were the July 7 London bombers. And the Madrid train bombers of March 2004. And on and on. All the plotters in the recent international airplane hijacking attempt are Muslims. All were working on the basis of Islamic theology. Why must officials continue not to notice this? To ignore this is to give up voluntarily the one thing that may make it possible to spot the perpetrators of a terror attack before it happens, and head it off. In other words, it is suicidal.

Make up your mind, Brits

Telegraph reports A majority of British people wants the Government to adopt an even more "aggressive" foreign policy to combat international terrorism, according to an opinion poll conducted after the arrests of 24 terrorism suspects last week. However - by a margin of more than five to one - the public wants Tony Blair to split from President George W Bush and either go it alone in the "war on terror", or work more closely with Europe.

Make up your mind. Do you want to be more agressive against terrorism, or do you want to follow Europe. As we mentioned earlier both Britain and Europe are being pressured to give local parts of their country the right to adopt Sharia law, and the Muslims intend to take over your country first in sections, and then the entire country.
Only eight per cent of those questioned by YouGov said Mr Bush and Mr Blair were winning the battle against Muslim fundamentalism. A majority also wants tougher domestic legislation that would allow police more time to detain suspects while they investigate complex terrorism plots. Some 69 per cent said that the police should be able to hold suspects for up to 90 days without charge, rather than be bound by the current 28-day limit.

The Islamization of Europe’s Cities

Brussels Journal reports In many countries across Western Europe, Muslim immigrants tend to settle in major cities, with the native population retreating to minor cities or into the countryside.

And the major cities are where the power is: financial institutions, seats of government, etc.
Previously, Europeans or non-Europeans could travel between countries and visit new cities, each with its own, distinctive character and peculiarities. Soon, you will travel from London to Paris, Amsterdam or Stockholm and find that you have left one city dominated by burkas and sharia to find… yet another city dominated by burkas and sharia. For some reason, this eradication of unique, urban cultures is to be celebrated as “cultural diversity.”
Cultural diversity apparently means suppressing the native culture, and replacing it with an Islamic one.
Britain’s population is projected to rise by more than seven million in the next 25 years. The predictions were even greater than those made by the Migrationwatch UK think-tank, whose forecasts had been dismissed in the past as alarmist. Sir Andrew Green, the chairman of Migrationwatch, said the figures were “staggering.” “They totally demolish the Government’s claim that it has a ‘managed migration’ policy. In fact they show that immigration into the UK is out of control.” British citizenship has been granted to nearly one million foreign nationals since Labour and Tony Blair came to power in 1997. “Grants of citizenship have quadrupled under the present Government. This is a direct result of their ‘no limits’ immigration policy.” “Immigration on this scale is changing the nature of our society without public consent. It is no longer acceptable.”
Try to stop it, and you will see riots like France saw.
More white families are moving from London to the regions while many immigrants arrive in the capital from overseas. Migrationwatch said that the change in 10 years had been “extraordinarily rapid” and “unprecedented.” Whites will soon become a minority in Birmingham and other major British cities, posing a “critical” challenge to social stability, Britain’s race relations watchdog warned. Statistics showed that white and ethnic minority communities were becoming increasingly segregated.

“Asian youths,” a British euphemism for Pakistanis and Muslims from South Asia, in parts of Oldham are trying to create no-go areas for white people. One of them told: “There are signs all around saying whites enter at your risk. It’s a matter of revenge.” However, it’s not just the white natives that are targets of Muslim violence, but other non-Muslims, too. A report on Hindus being driven out of the English city of Bradford by young Muslims was described by some Hindus as “ethnic cleansing.” Some of them want to leave the city to escape the “Talibanization of Bradford.”

In an online story in newspaper The Daily Telegraph that was removed “for legal reasons,” former Muslim Dr. Patrick Sookhdeo warned that British Muslims could soon form a state within the state. Dr Sookhdeo believed that “in a decade, you will see parts of English cities which are controlled by Muslim clerics and which follow, not the common law, but aspects of Muslim sharia law.” “In 1980, the Islamic Council of Europe laid out their strategy for the future – and the fundamental rule was never dilute your presence. That is to say, do not integrate.” “Rather, concentrate Muslim presence in a particular area until you are a majority in that area, so that the institutions of the local community come to reflect Islamic structures. The education system will be Islamic, the shops will serve only halal food, there will be no advertisements showing naked or semi-naked women, and so on.” The next step will be pushing the Government to recognize sharia law for Muslim communities – which will be backed up by the claim that it is “racist” or “Islamophobic” to deny them this.
They are willing to take over your country with violence, but if you are stupid enough to let them take over without it, they will do it that way too.
Sookhdeo noted that there is already a Sharia Law Council for the UK. “There are Muslim men in Britain who marry and divorce three women, then marry a fourth time – and stay married, in sharia law, to all four.” “The more fundamentalist clerics think that it is only a matter of time before they will persuade the Government to concede on the issue of sharia law. Given the Government's record of capitulating, you can see why they believe that.”

In France, Muslims already have many smaller states within the state. Criminologist Lucienne Bui Trong wrote that: “From 106 hot points in 1991, we went to 818 sensitive areas in 1999.” The term she used, “sensitive areas,” was used to describe Muslim no-go zones where anything representing a Western institution (post office truck, firemen, even mail order delivery firms) was routinely ambushed with Molotov cocktails. The number was 818 in 2002, when the French government decided to stop collecting the statistics.
That was smart. If they don't collect the statistics, they won't be worried as their country disappears before their own eyes.
.... A report commissioned by several retail and courier companies stated that the Islamists’ strategy is to “take control of Muslims within the workforce” and then “challenge the rules in order to impose Islamic values.” French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said that the riots in 2005 were rather “well organized.” Caroline Glick of the Jerusalem Post noted that some Muslim leaders explained that what they wanted was autonomy in their ghettos: “They seek to receive extraterritorial status from the French government, meaning that they will set their own rules based, one can assume, on Sharia law. If the French government accepts the notion of communal autonomy, France will cease to be a functioning state.”
There is a question of whether France is a functioning state now, but this is much worse.
Following three weeks of unrest, the police said 98 vehicles torched in one day marked a “return to a normal situation everywhere in France.” Some of the rioters left boasting messages on various Internet forums. “We aren’t going to let up. The French won’t do anything and soon, we will be in the majority here.” One observer stated: “In France, the majority of young Muslims believe that French society is dying, committing suicide. More like 10 percent to 20 percent of them believe that they are in the process of replacing European civilization with an Islamic one.” In the southern city of Marseille, Muslims make up at least a quarter of the population, and rising fast.

In the Netherlands, Muslims will soon make up the majority in all major cities. “Today, we have 1 million Muslims out of 16 million Dutch,” according to Frits Bolkestein, Dutch politician and former EU Commissioner. “Within 10 years, they will have an absolute majority in both Amsterdam and Rotterdam. We are staring into the face of a shortly to be divided community. Muslims have the right to their own schools, so there is no teaching of evolution,
That is one way to stop the teaching of evolution, but not the way I would support.
gay teachers are not tolerated but anti-Semitism is.” A researcher for the Netherlands Ministry for Immigration and Integration found that 40% of young Moroccan Muslims in the Netherlands rejected Western values and democracy. Six to seven percent were prepared to use force to “defend” Islam, and the majority were opposed to freedom of speech for offensive statements, particularly criticism of Islam.

Baby bottles not even safe

New York Post reported Twisted young British parents planned to sacrifice their precious baby in the evil cause of jihad by mass murder. Fanatical terror suspect Abdula Ahmed Ali, 25, and his wife, Cossor, 23, are among those being interrogated by police as suspects in the massive plot to attack trans-Atlantic flights in midair. What the outwardly normal couple had secretly plotted is almost too horrifying to consider, cops said. The Alis planned to use 6-month-old son Zain's baby bottle as a liquid bomb, blowing themselves and their child up, along with hundreds of others aboard the flight.

They should find the cleric that convinced them to do that, and throw him into a vat of boiling pig fat.
Cossar was allowed to bring Zain to a police station house so she could breast-feed him there.
I guess even baby bottles must be forbidden on airplanes.
The baby was later turned over to her grandparents.

Siggy blogged Most faith is manifested in humility before God. In this case, the mother decides that she will sacrifice her child (without being asked, of course) because her faith is so great that she knows what God wants and expects of her. In fact, like many religious zealots, she and others like her, purport to speak for God and exercising the power of life and death in His name and on His behalf. These kind of zealots (whilepredominantly Muslim in our times, they can be found in all faiths) in fact see themselves as 'Christ-like,' more than mere humans with human failings.

They are driven with much intensity and ferocity. They have to be. They are usurping God of His dominion. They are speaking for/as God- and yes, they really do believe that. If that were not true, they would not behave the way they do. Of course, there is much dysfunction to be found. Apparently, God isn't concerned with the situations in Algeria or Darfur, any more than he was concerned about Saddam reign of torture and death.

It is this kind of denial and disconnect from reality, fostered by dysfunctional Arab regimes, that has come to define Islam today.

Michelle Malkin blogged Well, Mr. Ahmed, it's because your grandson Ali was hatching a plot to blow up his own baby, along with a plane full of other people all in the name of Allah.

Dem angst escalates

Hill reports A group of Senate Democrats is growing increasingly angry about Sen. Joe Lieberman’s (D-Conn.) campaign tactics since he lost the Democratic primary last week.

Poor Dems. They really want to make a point that the party is moving hard left
If he continues to alienate his colleagues, Lieberman could be stripped of his seniority within the Democratic caucus should he defeat Democrat Ned Lamont in the general election this November, according to some senior Democratic aides.
If they are stupid enough to do that, maybe he will caucus with the Republicans, and bring a few more moderate Democrats with him <grin>
Blue Crab blogged This sideshow they complain about is of their own making. There has been a lot of disingenuous posturing about the entire Lamont candidacy, like having Screaming Howie Dean's brother involved. The floating of the seniority idea sounds like the Kos wing is flexing - or trying to flex - its muscles. They took a Democrat's scalp with Lamont's win. They spent all the effort and resources on what should have been a safe seat. Now they want to play enforcer.

And you know what? It also sounds like exactly what people have been warning about. The Democrats risk veering into national irrelevancy by being seen a a party that will not tolerate anything but lockstep.

OTB blogged The morning after Lamont’s win, Markos Moulitsas Zúniga outlined a five point plan that I considered “amazingly stupid.” Interestingly, the Democrats are now following the DailyKos playbook.

While I still think it unlikely that the Democrats will retake the Senate, there is some possibility of that happening. The best case scenarios, though, have the Democrats having a 51-49 lead, which would include the “independent” Lieberman. If they stripped him of his seniority, one would think the Republicans would woo him with an important chairmanship in exchange for caucusing with them, making it 50-50 with Vice President Cheney as the tiebreaker.

Adopt Islamic family law to curb extremists

Independent reported Muslim leaders have urged Ruth Kelly, the Secretary of State for Communities, to support Islamic family law in Britain to stop youths joining Islamic extremists.

Do they have Islamic family law (sharia) in Saudia Arabia? It does not seem to be stopping extremists. What about Pakistan?
Diana West blogged I would argue that what's going on in GB today may be seen as an attempt by British Muslim leaders to use the ongoing threat of jihad by British Muslim terrorists to intensify Islamic influence, which necessarily deepens non-Muslim British dhimmitude.... Britain narrowly averts another 9/11 that was to have been caused by British Muslim terrorists, and British Muslim leaders take the opportuity to press forward a political agenda (ending GB-US cooperation abroad, and urging the adoption of sharia at home) that could only please the terrorists. What happens next will tell us how deeply into dhimmitude Great Britain really is.

Brainster blogged Sorry, but I don't get any sense that the terrorism is about the lack of Muslim family law. If anything, the Muslims in Britain need to be further assimilated into society, not given special treatment.

Hizbullah likely to retain weapons

Jerusalem Post Hizbullah will not hand over its weapons to the Lebanese government but rather refrain from exhibiting them publicly, according to a new compromise that is reportedly brewing between Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Seniora and Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

If Hisbullah keeps its weapons, it will use them to attack Israel the next time Iran needs to stir up trouble to take the world's attention off of itself, so Lebanon needs to be prepared for Israel to devistate the country again, only this time they will know what the Iranian weapons Hizbullah has, and they can be better prepared for them.
The UN cease-fire resolution specifically demands the demilitarization of the area south of the Litani river. The resolution was approved by the Lebanese cabinet.
And we all know how important the UN is.
In a televised address on Monday night, Nasrallah declared that now was not the time to debate the disarmament of his guerrilla fighters, saying the issue should be done in secret sessions of the government to avoid serving Israeli interests.
The heck with Israeli interests. What about Lebanese interests. Does it want a militia it cannot control to be armed, and able to declare war against a neighbor country just because a third country tells them to?
"This is immoral, incorrect and inappropriate," he said. "It is wrong timing on the psychological and moral level particularly before the cease-fire," he said in reference to calls from critics for the guerrillas to disarm.

It might offend

Telegraph reported A five-year-old girl's passport application was rejected because her photograph showed her bare shoulders. Hannah Edwards's mother, Jane, was told that the exposed skin might be considered offensive in a Muslim country.

Was she planning on going to a Muslim country. Or has Londinistan really become a Muslim country?
The photograph was taken at a photo-booth at a local post office for a family trip to the south of France. Because of the way the camera was set up, the picture came out showing Hannah's shoulders.... "It is a total over-reaction. How can the shoulders of a five-year-old girl offend anyone? It's not as if anything else was showing, the dress she wore was sleeveless, but it has a high neck." Hannah had her first passport when she was three months old.
Were her sholders covered in that photo?
Her mother and her father, Martin, realised that it was due to expire during their holiday later this month and decided to renew it advance.

Truce will be Israel's last

Yahoo! News reported Lebanon's UN ambassador bitterly slammed Israel's month-long bombardment of his country ahead of a hard-won truce,

If Lebanon did not agree with Hezbollah, and if they were not prepared to accept the damage when Hezbollah attacked another country, they should not have allowed Hezbollah to remain armed.
and vowed that the treaty would be Israel's last with any Middle East country.
So the next time Israel is attacked by Hezbollah, do they accept the fact that Israel may have to totally destroy Lebanon, to root out the cancer, rather than accepting a peace treaty?
Lebanon will be, I think, the last state to sign a peace treaty with Israel," UN ambassador Nouhad Mahmoud told CNN television's "Late Edition" program, without explaining the remark.

Lebanon's 'real' soldiers are put in their place

Times Online reported Today was supposed to be the day when the muchmaligned army of Lebanon took control of its borders and policed the UN ceasefire. Instead, its military commanders were left humiliated and its troops stranded as Hezbollah told them not to try to disarm its fighters.

Lebanon is now faced with a decision. Does it want to govern its country, or does it want to ceed that power to Hezbollah. If they allow Hezbollah to remain armed, then the next time Iran or Syria tell them to, Hezbollah will again attack Israel, and if Lebanon thinks that Israel was harsh to it this time, just wait to see what they will do the next time Lebanon allows Hezbollah to attack Israel.
The first infantry units were preparing to head south yesterday when Hezbollah demonstrated who exercised the real control by announcing that it had no intention of surrendering a single weapon. General Michel Sleiman, the commander-in-chief of the Lebanese Army, and his lieutenants had been invited to join in Cabinet meetings to finalise plans to deploy their 15,000-strong force in a buffer zone south of the Litani river. However, they ended up being lectured by Hezbollah’s two Cabinet ministers in the coalition Government on what the army could and could not do. In Beirut, Western diplomats said that it raised serious concerns about the army’s ability and appetite to deal with Hezbollah. The Lebanese Government was left struggling to maintain a united front after unanimously backing the UN resolution on Saturday.

Sami Haddad, the Economics Minister, said: “The Government can’t force Hezbollah to abide by the ceasefire. It’s unnatural to have an armed political party that is in Cabinet and does not abide by what the Government of Lebanon wants.”
It will be interesting to see what the Democrats think about that. If they suggest that Israel accept Hezbollah remaining armed, ask how the would like it if the Republican Party wanted to have its own armed militia to enforce Republician Foreign Policies (including declaring war on another country) if they disagreed with a Democrat President (assuming we are ever unfortunate enough to have one of them).
CQ blogged The humiliation traveled from the generals to the troops, as everyone understood exactly why their orders to move out got countermanded. Government officials finally gave voice to the conundrum that all of us knew existed during this entire conflict, complaining that the Hezbollah "political party" would not abide by government decisions. Soldiers who have seen 20 of their comrades killed in a war they have neither waged nor wanted had to go back to their barracks after initially receiving the orders that would have given their country back to them.

This national humiliation will not soon be forgotten by the Lebanese. If Hezbollah gained some sympathy and support during the Israeli invasion that they themselves provoked, it has dissipated in this mutinous reaction. The scales have fallen from the eyes of the political class in Beirut, and they see the danger to their existence standing baldly in front of them. Hezbollah has stripped them of their legitimacy, and now their theft of southern Lebanon has become crystal clear.

Will this move the Siniora government to quit blamimg everyone but the terrorists that started the war? As late as Saturday, the PM still talked about the brave "national resistance", but those moments appear to have ended. If Fuad Siniora expects to lead his nation, he now has to acknowledge that Hezbollah cannot exist as a state within a state.

Sundries Shack blogged I don’t have much comment on this story except to say that is shouldn’t surprise anyone that Hezbollah has more power in Lebanon than the simpering Siniora government. That and the willingness to put a sawbuck down against anyone who thinks that Hezbollah will abide by the cease-fire agreement for more than a week. Heck, I figure the “under” right now is about 72 hours.

Decision 08 blogged Yes, and shortly thereafter, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus will arrive to keep the peace…

Michael Van Der Galien blogged Now I see: Hizbullah will not disarm, will probably attack Israel again in the near future, Israel will - of course - respond, yet one little problem: 30 000 soldiers: 15 000 Lebanese and 15 000 UN forces are standing in the way.
This, or Siniora's government will fall / will be paralyzed thus force Israel to act due to Hizbullah's reluctance to keep up appearances before 30 000 soldiers have arrived in the area -- thus Olmert can do what he should have done in the first place: send in thousands of ground forces.

Terror plot suspects bugged by MI5 'sneak and peak' teams

Daily Mail reported MI5 agents secretly infiltrated a bomb factory and found liquid explosives and detonators weeks before they foiled the plot to blow up America-bound passenger jets flying from British airports. The covert raids on homes of key terror suspects were also used to plant bugs and gather hours of crucial evidence against them. The carefully planned 'sneak and peek' operation involved members of the SAS and other surveillance specialists. It allowed the Security Service to eavesdrop on the suspected terrorists in the weeks before they were arrested.

They have been foolish to let so many radical Muslims in, but at least they don't have an ACLU or a Democratic Party working to protect the terrorists from their surveilence

More on the plot discovered in Britain

Times Online reported Security sources believe that a man arrested in last week’s anti- terror raids in Britain is Al-Qaeda’s leader in this country.

Good news
Home Office officials say that one of those arrested is suspected not only of masterminding the foiled plot to bring down up to nine transatlantic airliners, but also of involvement in other planned atrocities over the past few years.

Telegraph The recruitment of Muslim students at British universities to take part in terrorist attacks is at the heart of the alleged plot to blow up passenger jets, it is feared.
I would also suggest looking into the clerics at the Mosques they attended
A dossier of extremist Islamic literature has been uncovered by The Sunday Telegraph on the campus of a north London university, one of whose students has suspected links to the alleged terrorist attack. Waheed Zaman, 22, a bio-chemistry student and the president of the Islamic Society at London Metropolitan University, was one of 24 people arrested last week. Material found at two portable buildings used by the society includes documents advocating jihad and a pamphlet on how to deal with approaches from the security services.

Disagreement over timing of arrests

NBC reports NBC News has learned that U.S. and British authorities had a significant disagreement over when to move in on the suspects in the alleged plot to bring down trans-Atlantic airliners bound for the United States.

They were two days away from a trial run, and what might they have done if in the trial run they had been discovered? Would they have activated the explosive right there? And the real event was scheduled for August 16. That is not that far away.
A senior British official knowledgeable about the case said British police were planning to continue to run surveillance for at least another week to try to obtain more evidence, while American officials pressured them to arrest the suspects sooner. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case.
