Philadelphia Inquirer reported Senators Rick Santorum (R., Pa.) and Arlen Specter (R., Pa.) today will announce the introduction of a bill that would provide federal funding for embryonic stem cell research that does not involve destroying a human embryo.
The bill would provide "funds as necessary" to the National Institutes of Health for research into ways to get powerful stem cells from sources that "do not require the creation of human embryos for research purposes or discarding" human embryos, a Santorum spokesman said.
This is good news, not just the fact that there is a way to pursue embryonic stem cells without killing an embryo, but that people like Specter and Santorum can agree on it.
