WaPo reported Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates denied today that the United States is planning for war with Iran,
The Defense Department always should have plans for dealing militarilly with any country that presents a potential risk to the United States or its allies. That does not mean we should attack everyone, but we certainly should know what it would take, and how we would do it, if military action is on the table (and even if it is "off the table")saying that U.S. military efforts are focused on countering alleged Iranian activities against American troops in Iraq.
And that is proper that we should do so. But what if Iran invades Iraq. Iraq started the last war between those two countries, but Iran may do it this time, and we have a lot of military in Iraq.
