Telegraph America plans to retain a garrison of 50,000 troops, one tenth of its entire army, in Iraq for years to come, according to US media reports.
This is a very good idea. I don't think the forces will be needed to patrol Iraq, but after all we have spent, in both blood and treasure, to give them a democratic country, we need to have a few bases that might be very useful to help pacify some of the other countries in the Middle East.

With trouble brewing with Iran, we would be foolish not to keep substantial garrisons in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Mr. Bush told us it'd be a long, hard slog. Of course, the biggest obstacle we have to overcome will be the Left, including most of the Democrat party.
I am so unhappy with the GOP right now I can't stress it enough, but allowing the Democrats to take over would be a disaster.

I agree completely. Iran will not like our having forces on both borders, but tough.
