Reasonable Alternative

Cat blogged If our society could come up with a reasonable alternative to the death penalty, I would be all for it. I think we should send all death row inmates to a secluded island they were unable to leave where they would fend for themselves by farming, etc. and have to live with their own kind for the rest of their lives.

Britain tried that. It is called Australia.
They would be isolated thereby removing the threat to the rest of society and they would be responsible for their own livelihood, thereby easing the drain on our tax dollars. Of course this will never happen, because many people would play the "civil rights" card, stating that we are denying the rights of the criminals to free education, free meals, free shelter, free healthcare, etc. Sickening, isn't it?
I suddenly thought of the answer. Why don't we send the criminals and those that think the criminals should be entitled to free education, free meals, free shelter, free healthcare, etc. to a Blue State, where there are already plenty of people there prepared to provide them with free education, free meals, free shelter, free healthcare, etc.

That's a great idea Don! We would have a few choice states, ie. California, Massachusetts and Washington state full of criminals.

Next questions, how do we keep them in?

Well there seems to be opposition to using the military to keep people from crossing our border with Mexico because there are companies that depend on the workers willing to work for lower incomes, but maybe they would not object to protecting the California border from them sneaking back in.

But why would the want to come back. California has a very good climate, and if they get all of the free stuff from the state government the liberals want them to have, why would they want to come back. <grin>
