Iran fuel rations spark violence

BBC NEWS reported At least 12 petrol stations have been torched in the Iranian capital, Tehran, after the government announced fuel rationing for private vehicles.
That makes a lot of sense. Not!!! You don't like fuel rationing, so burn down a gasoline station.
Windows were smashed and stones thrown at the stations, and there was traffic chaos as motorists queued to buy fuel.
Did anyone say that fuel rationing is unIslamic?
Iranians were given only two hours' notice of the move that limits private drivers to 100 litres of fuel a month. Despite its huge energy reserves, Iran lacks refining capacity and it imports about 40% of its petrol.
Maybe they need nuclear powered cars.
The country has a large budget deficit largely caused by fuel subsidies and the inflation rate is estimated at 20-30%.
Unrest is good. It will prompt even harsher actions by the government, which will foster even more unrest. Maybe they will topple to government from within.
The BBC's Tehran correspondent, Frances Harrison, says Iran is trying to rein in fuel consumption over fears of possible UN sanctions over its nuclear programme. Iran fears the West could impose sanctions on its petrol imports and cripple its economy.

Try implementing the same fuel-rationing program in the US and see what happens...

But I guess in your mind, every unrational behaviour shown by anyone of the muslim faith is, of course, because of his or her muslim faith. And I guess the blacks in LA rioted because they were black (since it couldn´t have had anything to do with their mostly christian faith, or discrimination, poverty and oppression).

And the riots in Iran could have nothing to do with the widespread dissent towards the government in the country (you know, the last drip)...

But I am glad to see you favour the idea of the government being toppled from within! That would be great, especially if it happens before the US uses the current administrations obvious flaws as a pretext to launch another "pre-emptive" war. I can guarantee that the government being toppled from within is not the preferred option among the US political and economical elite though, anymore than it was for Iraq after operation Desert Storm, when US troops let Saddam´s choppers pass through US-controlled airspace to hunt down and kill the participants of the revolt (encouraged by Bush sr. himself) that could have toppled the Saddam Hussein´s regime from within. But since a toppling from within means the US can´t control the political end result, it´s not desirable, just like democracy is not desirable unless the peoples subjected to it make the "right" choices - and vote in accordance to US "national interest" (which is really only the interest of a small portion of americans)...

Burning down a gasoline station because of fuel rationing does not make sense.

Now burning an Ayatollah might make some sense.

No not every irrational behavior shown by anyone of the Muslim faith is because of that faith. Just most of them.

Why, in your mind, did the blacks in LA burn down their own neighbourhoods after the Rodney King incident? Was it because they were muslim?

"No not every irrational behavior shown by anyone of the Muslim faith is because of that faith. Just most of them."

Statements like this one, and the fact that you seldom presents any real arguments, just shows your ignorance. I don´t see the point of a blog were you just banter stuff without any knowledge or arguments. Is that what they give the "thinking blogger" award for?

The blacks that burned down their own neighborhood were idiots, just as the Iranians that burned down a gasoline station because of gas rationing.

Yes, but you do agree that there were very few muslims among those blacks, and a whole lot of christians. You see, my point here is not to defend the burning down of a gas station in response to gas rationing or burning down LA neighbourhoods in response to racism and oppression, it´s simply to point out that irrational behaviours does not spring from specific religious beliefs, they spring from social realities. Sometimes priests or mullahs use those social realities to control people to gain influence for themself, but if you take this example from Iran, it´s more of a reaction AGAINST the mullahs than for them, so Islam is hardly the correct starting point if you want to explain it.

You might very well have seen idiots burning down gas stations in the US as well if there were a fuel rationing program. I mean, in (christian) Australia, people actually went out to sea and killed dozens of sting-ray mantas after well-known entertainer/ crocodile hunter Steve Irvin was accidentaly killed by a sting-ray manta - how stupid is that?

Then they should burn a mullah instead of a gas station.

I agree. But the fact that they didn´t has nothing more to do with them being muslim than the fact that the blacks in LA burned their own neighbourhood has to do with them being christian or the fact that a bunch of stupid Australians went out and killed stingrays in response to Steve "the crocodile hunter" Irwin´s death, has anything to do with them being christian;

But hybrid technology paves the way for plug-in hybrid technology which paves the way for all-electric vehicles.increase miles per gallon, fuel saver, increase gas

mileageStill, hybrids run on gasoline, increase miles per gallon, fuel saver, increase gas mileage which is not an alternative to gasoline no matter
