Climate Expert Says NASA Tried to Silence Him

NYT The top climate scientist at NASA says the Bush administration has tried to stop him from speaking out since he gave a lecture last month calling for prompt reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases linked to global warming.

Did he believe his talk was consistent with government policy, or did he think he was elected to set government policy
The scientist, James E. Hansen, longtime director of the agency's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, said in an interview that officials at NASA headquarters had ordered the public affairs staff to review his coming lectures, papers, postings on the Goddard Web site and requests for interviews from journalists.
Appropriate
Dr. Hansen said he would ignore the restrictions.
Then he should make sure his resume is up to date.
"They feel their job is to be this censor of information going out to the public," he said.

Dude - I believe Saddam made sure that his scientists had "handlers" that vetted what they were able to say to reporters, too.

Dude - Try doing some research. Anyone who takes the time will find that as the earth has been warming do to greenhouse gasses, the SUN has also been getting hotter over the past 3 decades. Did the Bush Administration do that too?????

I am sure someone will try to blame him for it, if it is the case (or even if it is not). As far as the earth getting warmer, we have had some of the coldest winters in a long time

Not only the coldest winters, but these "experts" claim their computer models can accurately predict a global climate catastrophe accurately, while stating in no uncertain terms every hurricane season, that the computer models can't even predict which STATE a sto0rm will hit. This seems even more rediculous when you realize the amount of variables involved with hurricane prediction pale in comparison to the number of variables associated with a global climate, which we barely have a rudementary knowledge of.

As far as the sun burning hotter over the past 30 years, this has been scientifically documented and proven. It only stands to reason to those of us with at least a semi-rational point of view, that if the sun burns hotter, what happens to our climate on this planet?? Hmm.... I'm not saying the THEORY of global warming doesn't warrent further investigation, only that to say it is scientific fact is clearly premature given the amount of data we have gathered along with current computing capabilities.

Can you refer me to scientific proof that the sun is burning hotter over the past 30 years? I know there are periodic cycles where there are more sunspots or fewer sunspots, but I am not aware of a longer cycle. Do you know when it is expected to begin cooling?

Will try to see what I can find.

And I agree things are on cycles (long and very long), and "scientists" try to extrapolate way too much.

It was not that long ago that "scientists" were predicting "global cooling" and threatening another ice age.
