ACLU Gets Tough on Border Crossing

Michelle Malkin blogged Finally, the open-borders ACLU has found a border-crosser it wants to crack down on: FOX News's Sean Hannityhttp://michellemalkin.com/immigration/2005/03/30/11:01.am, who broadcast live from the southern border on Monday and Tuesday night with excellent coverage of the Minuteman Project.

Hannity stepped across a fence for a few seconds, and now the ACLU and a Democrat state legislator want him prosecuted. If Hannity were a citizen of any other country besides America, the ACLU would be rushing to represent him pro bono as a persecuted "undocumented migrant."

A reader notes...

If they persecute, or prosecute, Hannity for crossing the border illegally, then they'll have to do the same to [Bob] Simon at CBS. He did exactly the same thing on 60 minutes Wednesday on last night's illegal "immigration" spot.
RickinVa blogged AC-LUsers and a moonbat go after Hannity - This has got to be a joke
Phoenix Democratic Representative Kyrsten Sinema sent out a news release saying ACLU volunteers video recorded 550 KFYI's Sean Hannity climbing under a fence at the U.S. - Mexico border when he was on hand to observe and talk with the Minutemen. Hannity angrily counters that the fence was fully on U.S. territory and is demanding Sinema apologize and retract her news release. So far, Sinema is refusing.

Brian Maloney blogged To fight for their dubious cause, they've enlisted Arizona State Representative Kyrsten Sinema (D-Phoenix), a radical Arizona State University professor notorious for extreme views on illegal aliens and other leftist causes

Marcus Aurelius blogged Sean was on the scene with the Minutemen and was shown a border fence that had a hole in it. He went through the hole and returned. The man he was interviewing stated the fence did not actually demarcate the last bit of American soil but was three feet from the actual border that is Sean did not actually step on Mexican territory!

The Editors blogged The ACLU against border jumpers……but only if they’re conservative Americans

Rob blogged Just to sum up, these people are standing up for a foreigner’s “right” to enter this country illegallly, yet when a U.S. citizen steps across the border and steps back they want him prosecuted? I think these people need to take another puff on the reefer.

E.M.Zanotti commented Wait a sec…they’re all up in arms because they say the Minutemen are discriminatory as to whom they apprehend because they didn’t tackle Hannity when he reentered? But aren’t they the ones who are angry because illegal aliens aren’t ALL being allowed into the United States? If they were sticking to thier ACLU guns, shouldn’t they be wrapping Hannity in a blanket and telling him they’ll get him some ID and food instead of insisting he be detained?

Jay777 blogged As we have watched the ACLU relentlessly pursue the Minute Men, and impeeding their efforts to help secure our borders. We've watched them as they have aided in illegal immigrants to cross our borders. And we have seen how their volunteers have acted irresponsibly, to say the least.

This is absolutely ridiculous
