Sad

It looks like if you can't win it honestly, voter fraud is the way to get the White House. I am certainly not happy right now, but I like the way The Onion put it: Black Man Given Nation's Worst Job

African-American man Barack Obama, 47, was given the least-desirable job in the entire country Tuesday when he was elected president of the United States of America. In his new high-stress, low-reward position, Obama will be charged with such tasks as completely overhauling the nation's broken-down economy, repairing the crumbling infrastructure, and generally having to please more than 300 million Americans and cater to their every whim on a daily basis. As part of his duties, the black man will have to spend four to eight years cleaning up the messes other people left behind. The job comes with such intense scrutiny and so certain a guarantee of failure that only one other person even bothered applying for it. Said scholar and activist Mark L. Denton, "It just goes to show you that, in this country, a black man still can't catch a break."
I am happy to hear Oklahoma voters approve 4 state questions but sad to hear Tulsa streets proposals pass.

I am sorry to see Franken apparently tied with Coleman in MN, and that Murtha did not go down in PA. I am sorry to see that William “Cold Cash” Jefferson cruised to victory, and while I don't want the Dems to have a filibuster proof Senate, I am sorry to see that convicted criminal Sen. Ted Stevens is in a dead heat and may yet win re-election in Alaska. Happy to see Inhofe and Sullivan win over Rice and Oliver, Sorry to see Karen Keith prevailed over Sally Bell. It looks like the judges survived. I always vote on rejection of all of them, and Michael Bates said some of them should have gone down.

If you for Obama you will go to hell

Bishop Robert Finn makes it clear that you put your eternal salvation at risk by voting for Obama

He goes on to quote paragraphs 2274

2274 Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being.
and 2322
2322 From its conception, the child has the right to life. Direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, is a "criminal" practice (GS 27 § 3), gravely contrary to the moral law. The Church imposes the canonical penalty of excommunication for this crime against human life.

Racially motivated

Breitbart reported Rep. Barney Frank said Monday that Republican criticism of Democrats over the nation's housing crisis is a veiled attack on the poor that's racially motivated.
Why is that? Were the bad loans just to people of one race? And even if they were, do all people of that race take out loans they can't pay back?
The Massachusetts Democrat, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said the GOP is appealing to its base by blaming the country's mortgage foreclosure problem on efforts to expand affordable housing through the Community Reinvestment Act.
The CRA may be the start of the problem, but it really started with legislation and regulations from the Clinton administration pressing the banks to write sub-prime loans, which Fannie and Freddie would buy regardless of the probability they would be paid back. And then when Bush pressed for changes beginning in 2001, and many times beginning in 2003, and 17 times in 2008 alone, and McCain did beginning in 2005, the Democrats blocked any efforts to fix the problem.
Ed Morrissey blogged The real cause of the collapse was the Congressional push for Fannie and Freddie to support subprime lending by purchasing the paper from lenders, which is related to the same policies that generated the CRA but isn’t the CRA itself. Lenders make money one of two ways: keeping the paper themselves and getting the interest over the term of the loan, or selling the paper to someone else for a guaranteed short-term profit. When Fannie and Freddie began buying all of this paper, they created a huge demand for subprime loans — and lenders responded by offering easy money to almost anyone who applied. They threw out income requirements and equity thresholds (such as down payments) and generated tremendous short-term profits for themselves … while Fannie and Freddie assumed all the long-term risk.

Had the risk remained at Fannie and Freddie, the problem would never have gone beyond their collapse. Unfortunately, Congress also pushed the GSEs to securitize the debt in order to spread the risk. Investors considered those mortgage-backed securities a safe bet, backed by the US government. That’s the direct cause of the financial collapse, along with the collapse of housing prices that resulted from the sudden deflation of demand.

Congress — and specifically Frank himself — had plenty of warning that this would happen. The anger generated from that information has nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with the breach of trust between Congress and its constituents. Frank, Chris Dodd, and others like Lacy Clay and Maxine Waters tried the racist meme out on regulators who tried to warn Congress of the pending collapse. They have to smear their critics. They certainly can’t admit that Congress failed spectacularly. Racism is the last refuge of scoundrels in 2008, and not surprisingly, we find most of those scoundrels in the Democratic Party.

Finally

McCain Finally Rips Obama for Fannie Mae Crisis. William Ayers and the ranting of a former pastor are interesting, but the subprime loans and the Fannie/Freddie problem is much more recent, and hurt the country a lot more. I don't think the bailout was a good idea; I favored $700 million, not billion, and to spend half of it building new prisons, and half on prosecutors to fill those prisons, but McCain thought we needed the $700 billion. I can understand him not pressing on the source of the problem while he needed Democratic votes to pass the bailout, but now that it is passed, we should go after the Dems that caused the problem.

Humorous Bailout press conference video

As Michell Malkin observes NBC pulled the sketch without explanation. Perhaps it was too honestly critical of Democrats, in particular three wealthy and powerful people who fund far-left organizations: George Soros and Herbert and Marion Sandler. Michelle Malkin has details and a link for filing a complaint with the network.

It was the best satire of the night. But in case they insist on deleting this one from YouTube, here are the script and screengrabs.

NBC made a few modifications, and reported the clip

Who Would Pay?

NYTimes reported It is one thing to haggle over a price for a pirate’s ransom. But it is apparently a whole other matter to figure out who, exactly, should pay it.
Why should anyone pay it? Kill the pirates, and bomb the bases on the Somali coast they operate out of.
On Friday, it seemed that discord among all the players — the shipping company, the shipowner, the insurance companies, government officials and relatives of the captured crew, not to mention the pirates — was slowing negotiations over how to free the arms-laden Ukrainian freighter that Somali pirates seized last week. The pirates want $20 million,
I'd like $20 million too, but I don't expect to get it, and the pirates should not expect anything but a bullet or a rope.
though people close to the negotiations have said they are being bartered down and will probably settle for $5 million.
And hos is that supposed to prevent future boats from being taken?
Still, it doesn’t seem as if anyone is rushing to pay up.

Deal reached on bailout

Washington Post reported Congressional leaders and the Bush administration this morning said they had struck an accord to insert the government deeply into the nation's financial markets, agreeing to spend up to $700 billion to relieve Wall Street of troubled assets backed by faltering home mortgages.
This is a big mistake. Instead of $700 Billion they should have appropriated $700 MILLION, half to be spent building new prisons, and half hiring special prosecutors to go after people that committed fraud in either getting mortgages they knew they could not pay for, or lending money to people they knew could not pay it back, and then lying to other financial institutions that then bought those loans, thinking they were good.

By the way, they just made up the $700 Billion numberto frighten everyone into rapid action.
House and Senate negotiators from both parties emerged with Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. at 12:30 a.m. from a marathon session in the Capitol to announce that they had reached a tentative agreement on a proposal to give Paulson broad authority to organize one of the biggest government interventions in the private sector since the Great Depression.
This sets a precedent, and anyone that is in trouble will now expect the government to bail them out too.
Full details of the plan were not immediately available. Lawmakers said their staffs would be working through the night to assemble the package and post it on the Internet.
