It is encouraging to see companies setting guidelines for employee blogging, and even being willing to devote company resources (a new feature on the company's website that will aggregate any feeds from employees who wish to be included) for employee blogs that follow the guidlines.
Here are the company's ten guidelines (each is explained in greater detail in the policy):
- Start with a blogging service.
- Write as yourself.
- Own your content.
- Write relevant. Write often.
- Advertise—if you wish.
- Be nice.
- Keep secrets.
- Respect copyrights.
- Obey the law.
- Remember the (company) Handbook.
Those are good guidelines for all bloggers.
